Stayed

It’s dark and gloomy outside.
I grab a pack of lights,
And wobble to the terrace,
Cacooned in blankets.
The wind stings my tear-stained face.
I light up and forget the world.
One…
Two…
Your face appears in front of me.
Three…
Four…
I hate you so much I want to kill you.
Five…
Six…
I begin to forget what you did to me.
I blew you out like smoke.

Years later in a hospital bed,
I realized
You had stayed.
Like cancer,
You had stayed.
